ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Vienna will be the setting of the unique 007 ACTION VIENNA – An Official James Bond Collection exhibition, inviting visitors to experience up close the fascinating world of the most famous secret agent in film history.

Following acclaimed successful stops at the National Motor Museum of Beaulieu and the London Film Museum in England, the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles and the Saratoga Automobile Museum in New York, as well as acclaimed exhibitions in Brussels and Prague, the 007 ACTION Exhibition will be presented in Vienna’s METAstadt from the 007 th of September and promises an experience full of action and glamor.

A journey into the world of 007

With the words “Bond, James Bond”, spoken by Sean Connery in 1962, the world was introduced to
the longest running and perhaps best loved secret agent of all time. While the role has been embodied by different actors over the years, the iconic vehicles and gadgets have remained a key component of the appeal of the James Bond films. Visitors to 007 ACTION VIENNA will now have the unique opportunity to experience these legendary objects up close and first-hand.

Staged over 3400 m², the exhibition will take visitors through spectacular set designs divided into worlds inspired by the four elements: fire, earth, water and air. Each room offering an immersive experience dedicated to legendary movie scenes.

The exhibition will display the most extensive and impressive collection of James Bond vehicles and unique spectacular items used by the secret agent over the past six decades. Highlights include the Aston Martin DB5 for “No Time To Die" (2021), the Lotus Esprit S1 made famous in “The Spy Who Loved Me”, and the autogyro Little Nellie from “You Only Live Twice”  (1967), together with many more iconic vehicles, impressive helicopters, costumes, and other spectacular props from the franchise. As an always very important part of the James Bond films, sound effects and soundtracks will also be featured in the exhibition providing the visitors with a one-of-a-kind multi-sensory experience.

“Vodka Martini – shaken, not stirred.” For a Bond-style refreshment during or after the visit of this extraordinary exhibition, patrons will be invited to sit and enjoy the decor of the 007 ACTION Bar.

“What I find amazing, and I made sure of, is that 007 ACTION VIENNA is really for everyone. Classy and beautiful, the exhibition is exciting because all items part of it are very spectacular and will inspire the visitors to re-watch all those movies and relive these action-charged scenes those props were part of.” says Nicolas Borenstein, the curator of the exhibition, overseeing all elements of it and making sure to vividly entertain the audience from the moment the enter the venue and having them leave the premises with sparkles in their eyes.

Behind the scenes of the Bond films

Video screens installed all over the Exhibition ground show images of movies where these vehicles and props are used. Even sometime showing how these iconic cinema moments were filmed, providing this spectacular one-in-a-lifetime environment. The exhibition will not only provide an insight into the iconic vehicles, but also into the secrets behind the scenes of the James Bond films. Visitors can discover rare production photos, storyboards and interviews with the directors and stunt coordinators documenting the making of the most spectacular scenes. The impressive stories behind the stunts and special effects are presented in detail and offer rare insights into the world of filmmaking. Visitors will learn how the Aston Martins and other vehicles were prepared for the spectacular stunts and what special adjustments were made to make them film-ready. There is also a special focus on the innovative gadgets developed by Q, the legendary weapons master of MI6. From concealed weapons to state-of-the-art surveillance devices, the exhibition shows how these technologies were used in the films and the real-world inspirations behind them.

007 ACTION VIENNA is pure family entertainment at its best, already enjoyed by millions of visitors on both side of the Atlantic Ocean.
